The original MeteorCount version dates of 04-12-2001. It is the version I used during the 2001 Leonid storm and with the 2001 Geminids. I'll continue working a bit on MeteorCount and will place updated or improved versions here. You do not have to download the whole package, but just replace the BASIC program in order to upgrade to a new version.
Dec 26th, 2001: New update prepared (#metcn13a.txt). Improvements: Minor bug in correcting cloud estimates elimninated. Changes in the manual. More compact code (facilitating further work on the software).
Aug 24th, 2002: New update (#metcn14.txt). Possibility to include your name (IMO observers code) in the header of each data file. If several people observe on a Leonid expedition, they may want to beam their data to another observer's Palm for backup. Since there are no subdirectories in Palm OS each file has to clearly identify the observer's name. This is a preliminary version several people used for the Perseids. !!!! Users of 1.4 should upgrade to Version 2.01 before the Leonids because there was minor bug in creating new files that could be annoying at high rates !!!
Nov. 8th, 2002: New Version 2.01 (#metcn201.txt). Includes a possibility to enter cloudiness estimates, IMO field numbers, star counts etc by hitting the Palm keys. You no longer need to look at the display for these things.
Also a number of incompatibilities with recent ybasic versions are fixed. Version prepared for the 2002 Leonids.
Dec. 1st, 2002: Version 2.03 (#metcn203.txt). Petra Rendtel and the author used the software during the GvA Leonid expedition to Tenerife. It ran smoothly, and we again analysed our Leonid counts within minutes on a PC and submitted them to the IMO. Petra and Jost Jahn discovered that one could abnormly terminate the program in "have a break mode" by accidentally hitting other keys. The new version removes this annoyance. Users note that now ANY key or field restarts the program, there is no longer a "ok" field to click on.
Lew Gramer made me aware of the fact that hitting the "Quit" key also abnormally terminates the program. This Quit key is NOT a feature of MeteorCount but one of YBasic! In fact I recommend to hide it behind a keyboard mask. In order to avoid this confusion I reworderd the manual section on terminating the program quite a bit.
