To
the Limes they come "Much time I needed to understand the curator of Isis' and Magna Mater's twofold temple. Today I am aware that he was indeed the most clairvoyant among all of us. That spirit which summoned the CORPUS SACRUM cannot be hindered. For the CORPUS SACRUM is only a symptom of the disease; it is not itself the disease which gnaws at the encompassing universal spirit residing in the hearts of Man and ever again will breed forth another new demon - until one day, there will no limes be left to restrain it.“ The Roman Empire, 140 A. D.: Four years have passed since the legions brutally crushed the last rebellion of the Judaeans. But under the rule of her new emperor, Antoninus Pius, Rome has not become safer - especially not at her northern border. Ever higher numbers of barbaric immigrants illegally push across the Limes. But the real peril lurks before. For lack of education, superstition, religious extremism and willful violence are everywhere spreading. All that turns in favour of a dangerous order, the CORPUS SACRUM. Ever mightier this powerful sect grows in the cities along the rivers Rhine and Main. And in order to pursue their sinister aims, they do not hesitate to abuse even the darkest secret of the people of the Mattiaci: the magical pentagondodecahedrons. |

The
historical world Europe without borders, one currency everywhere accepted, one language everywhere understood, one law everywhere respected from Wales to Anatolia: all this was real – 2000 years ago. How did western Germany become romanised? What did the confines of Rome along the river Rhine look like? How did it feel to live in the cities and towns of Mainz, Wiesbaden, or Frankfurt in the Roman age? This entirely re-edited and updated book, first published in 1972, casts light upon the historical background of the world featured in CORPUS SACRUM. Many prominent archaeological sites and excavations are presented: the warships of Mainz, the twofold temple of Isis and Magna Mater, the Pagan Wall of Wiesbaden, and of course the Limes, the fortified Roman border structure, which became global cultural heritage in 2005. But the book also explains the administrative system, the flourishing hygienic business or the burial rites of the Romans who came as occupants and became friends. |
